Paul's prayers are a pattern of what must be of first importance in our prayers. We are called to thank God as we notice God's ongoing work in His Church, and to know God: who He is and what He has done for us. Without this knowledge, Christianity becomes anemic and weak. With this knowledge, Christians can live confidently in the present, anchored safely in their Lord.
